Gary Steuer is the Chief Cultural Officer for the City of Philadelphia, and directs the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy. We're thrilled that he was able to join us on Wednesday night for the DesignPhiladelphia Opening Party. Writing about The Welcome House on his blog, Gary states "This is exactly the sort of project I would like to see much more of throughout the City. It is art that is temporary, of the highest quality, wakes people up and confronts/engages/delights them in the course of their daily routine."

Madeline Robinson, a 93 year old matriarch of a five-generational household in Germantown, PA, describes her home as "The Welcome House" to artist/ videographer Danielle Lessovitz.

This video will be screened, along with others at SHELTER, a multi-media exhibition curated by Marianne Bernstein at the Painted Bride in Philadelphia, presented during First Person Festival Nov 3 - 8, 2009. The exhibition will run through end of December 2009.
